and development is the cornerstone of ensuring an effective and
sustainable workforce. Programs designed for orientation, job training,
and career planning are all essential to productivity of workers
and any business success. In the policing community, training is
paramount to the delivery of essential services to Canadians.
New recruits require vast amounts of training in order to understand
and do their job. Continued job training occurs to keep police personnel
current with the skills and knowledge required to meet ever changing
technological, legal and crime related issues. Somewhat unique to
the business of policing is the use of the Training Academy.
These run to facilitate the development of the educational and practical
tools and knowledge required for job success. This section includes
articles relevant to learning, training and career development.

Sector Council conducts media monitoring to collect articles on
recruitment and retention issues relevant to policing from Canadian
and International newspapers, magazines, and news wires. Still under
